Who I A.M.
Hello! My name is Alvaro Michael, and I’m a Bilingual Technical Support Engineer at Salesforce.
I have also been contracted as a writer with the Creative Company — looking forward to seeing that one published. My first published book!
Formerly I was other things: A barista at a coffee shop, and a membership representative and greeter at the Y. These were interim jobs to get me through hard times and reduce the pain of seeing my finances tick inevitably downward. Learned a lot at those jobs, and met some cool people.
And before that, I was a research engineer with Graf Research Corporation, a hardware security company focused on FPGAs.
Of course, no person is defined entirely by their career. What else do I like? I enjoy reading, writing, improv, note-taking, C++ programming, composing letters by hand, and (from time to time) sketching.
At times I am a reckless book-buyer — of course, I always check my local library before adding to cart. Authors I love include WG Sebald, Shakespeare, Jane Gardam, and Raymond Carver. Writers I hope to get to this year are Franz Kafka, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, and Jorge Luis Borges. (So far that has not been happening. I have my excuses.)
Regarding programming and computer science, take a look at my GitHub. I haven’t been keeping up with it recently but there are a couple C++ arcade games in there.
This image, a stock image, is, I find, entirely too bright. If you think my desk looks at all like this one, you’re DEAD WRONG. Sure, my desk is white, and the walls around my desk are white, but this image is, as it stands, TOO white, and I am, quite simply, blinded.
